I apologize for my lack of posts lately, we’ve been having quite the hot summer here in Seattle – something a bit unusual for us. And there’s been lots of family outings and activities. But I promise I haven’t been completely unproductive. I thought I’d share with you a little sneak peek of an exciting new project I’m working on right now. As you can see, it’s a little different than my usual sort of work and I can’t wait to show you the final product!!
One thing you should know about me is that I am huge HUGE fan of science fiction and fantasy. I literally have hundreds of sci-fi/fantasy books filling up my many bookshelves. And I spend most days working with some kind of movie or show on in the background. When I first became interested in making Art Dolls I was heavily drawn towards sculptures of creatures and dolls with fantasy elements, but I was far too intimidated to try anything. After sculpting for over a year now I think I’m finally ready to give it a try!!
The idea for this project just fell in my lap last week, completely out of nowhere and once I started to write it down the ideas wouldn’t stop flowing!! I’ve spent this last week filling up my journal with ideas and sketches – I can barely keep up!! A whole magical world seems to be unfolding in my mind, a world that I recall from my childhood. And I can’t wait to show it to you!!!
