New Doll, New Direction

Wow, it has been way too long since my last blog entry.

(Dusts website off)

A lot has happened over the last year – yes it’s been almost a year since my last post (yikes!!). Mostly lots of stressful stuff regarding my family, our home, and our personal finances – and all of that stress has made it difficult to find as much time as I used to for doll making, let alone blogging. But I’m here now to say hello!! Continue reading “New Doll, New Direction”

Finding My Way

Finding My Way

(Here’s a peak at what I’ve been working on: practicing some new techniques and experimenting with a new style)

I apologize for my silence as of late – I promise I haven’t disappeared!! Summer is always a busy time of year for my family – lots of camping, bbq’s, zoo days and the like – and I find it very hard to stay focused on my work. In addition to that I’ve had a lot on my mind lately.

Astrid

Astrid, along with a few others, spends her days looking after all of the creatures in the Great Forest, feeding, nurturing, and when necessary healing wounds. She aspires to one day be a Royal Caretaker – to tend and train the King’s very own mounts. She is kind and compassionate and very wise. Continue reading “Astrid”

Evolution of the Dark Manor Doll

Doll Evolution

That title seems so lofty and stuff, but it’s honestly the best way to describe what I’ve been thinking about. I’ve been looking back a lot lately. At all my work over the past year – it’s been about a year and a half since I started sculpting – and the changes and progress I see in my work are so encouraging. And important. I think the only way to become great at something is to never be completely satisfied with what you’ve created. You’ve got to always be pushing yourself to make something even better each time.
